Pete Smith #37

Mike Pierce #8

3B,SS,OF

Mike is entering his seventh year with the Brewers and his 20th year as a player.  Mike graduated from Troy Athens in 2000 where he earned the teams MVP and he played in the 2000 Michigan High School Allstar game at Comerica Park.  Mike went on to Western Michigan where he was a walk-on football player in 2002.  After graduation in 2004 with a Business Marketing Degree, Mike went on to coach the Troy Athens freshman football team.  While currently still coaching, he has moved up to being the programs main linebacking coach.  Mike is excited to play for the Brewers this year and is ready to take on his role as a team captain and spiritual advisor.

Matt Sherock #4

3B,SS,2B,C,RP

Matt will be entering his second year with The Michigan Brewers Baseball Club.  2009 was his first time playing organized baseball in 19 years.  He returned to baseball from the softball diamond where he had been spending his time since 1989.  Some say the reason he moved to softball is so he didn't overshadow Ken Griffey Jr's hall of fame career.  Once Griffey returned to Seattle to play out the string, it was safe for Matt to return to baseball.  Matt's primary position is infield where he logged most of his time.  He can play outfield and had a few games behind the plate as well.  Matt is also a member of the Detroit MSBL 35+ Cubs.

Matt Mahrle #7

C

Matt is in his 23rd year of organized baseball.  When he was younger, he manned the hot corner and caught part time.  Once he hit high school, Matt discovered that Troy Athens needed him behind the plate and that's where he has been since.  Matt has been the main catcher for all of head coaches Pete Brees' teams over the past seven years.  The two work well on the field, as well as handeling the Brewers young pitching staff in the off season.  Matt has learned to develop the pitchers very well and his leadership on the field is unmatched.  Matt was among the team leaders in walks and hopes to help lead the team to the playoffs this year.  "Mars", as he is called by his teammates, is on of the team Captains this year and is looking forward to "putting on the foil" this summer.

Matt Sterling #15

OF

Matt is a utility player for the Brewers but mostly plays in the outfield.  He won the MVP for the Brewers last year while almost breaking all of his wooden bats.  Matt lives and grew up in Troy where he attended Birmingham Seaholm High.  He went on to start for four years at Case Western Reserve University, OH, where he won three conference awards and majored in mechanical engineering.  He hopes to see a better Brewer team this year and to buy warranty covered bats!

Stephanie Goral

Team Secretary

Stephanie is entering the season as the teams #1 fan.  After enduring a rough 2009 season, she is looking for a brighter Brewer future.  Stephanie can be seen at most games entertaining her dog "Mags" in an unending game of fetch.  Stephanie helps to organize team fundraisers and also helps to update player stats.

Nick Emerson #2

This 5'11, 230 switch hitter has been playing baseball since he was five.  His passion for the game is bar none to no one and is what makes him strive to be the best ball player he can be each year.  He has played for multiple federation teams as a teenager and a perennial all-star for his city team's.  Nick is now in his second year in the scsmabl and first for the Brewers where he hopes to bring solid defense and and earn a spot in the starting pitching rotation.  He also hopes to bring plenty of jokes and pranks to the dugout this year to help keep the guys loose!

Mike Grubey #10

SS, 2B

This is Mike's second year with The Brewers.  Mike graduated in 2005 from Royal Oak Kimball High where he went onto play second base and short stop at Adrian College for two years earning two league championships.  He then moved onto GVSU where he graduated in 2009 in Biomedical Sciences.  Mike hopes that his second year in the league will be his best ever.  He is fighting for the lead off spot in the lineup.  Mike has great speed and will be looking to steal 15 bases this year!!
